Integrated in the Portuguese national teams, three pairs and two trios from Acro Clube da Maia participated in the 2008 Gymnastics Acrobatics FIG’s World Age Group Competition and World Championships. The good results achieved have exceed initial expectations and were the following:

5^th FIG World Age Group Competition

• 11-16 Mixed Pairs finals: João Costa / Íris Mendes in 2^nd place
• 11-16 Women Groups finals: Stephanie Medeiros / Catarina Pereira / Rita Pereira in 6^th place
• 11-16 Women Pairs qualifications: Rita Pinto / Inês Gomes in 14^th place
• 12-19 Women Groups qualifications: Katia Barbosa / Catarina Magalhães / Rosa Silva in 11^th place

21^st FIG World Championships

• Men Pairs finals: João Maia / Tiago Figueiredo in 5^th place

All these gimnasts will be competing in MIAC’09 and hope to see many of Acro 2008 competitors in Maia…

Acro Clube da Maia proudly announces that MIAC 2009’s Poster Contest and Mascot Contest will be launched on the 1^st October 2008. The submission period will last until the 31^st October 2008. The online voting period will happen between the 1^st and the 20^th November 2008. Both contests winning proposals will be publicly announced before the 30^th November 2008.

The 3rd edition of Maia International Acro Cup will be hosted at the modern and well-equipped Maia Gymnastics Complex. The lunches, dinners and social events will happen in the Maia Tennis Complex (5 minute walk from the competition place).

Maia town hall and main square are at 15 minute walk from Maia Gymnastics Complex. Near the town hall there is a metro (surface and underground electric) train going to and from Porto centre (40 minute trip).
